本剧根据1988年从江苏海安到云南宁蒗彝族自治县支教的优秀教师群体的真实事迹改编，讲述20世纪80年代江苏教师支教云南小凉山的故事，剧中凉海中学的原型为宁海民族中学。
影片讲述了几个外来者的到来让村子各种离奇诡异的故事纷涌而至。傻子到村子，村民屡次被傻子的行为逗乐，村里最爱探案的“福尔摩斯”吴良志收留了傻子。傻子和沛菡在一起玩耍，关系亲密，喜欢沛菡的杜宇由于嫉妒要把傻子赶出村子．杜宇策划了一起“偷鸡”的案子。村民们出现了夜晚幻听幻视的现象。傻子来到村子调查真相并阻止这场阴谋。村民揭穿了杜宇和先生勾结劝村民搬离村子的嘴脸。三爷提出由公安机关，倡议大家发展旅游让村里经济的发展。
When 10-year old Olivia's Mom goes on a business trip for the weekend, she leaves Olivia home alone with her 17-year-old brother Miles in charge. The first night, Olivia falls asleep on the couch, and wakes up, not realizing how late it is. She walks her dog Charlie without Miles knowing, and witnesses a young woman being kidnapped on the empty New York City streets. Olivia runs home and tells Miles, but he doesn't believe her.
